9 Banks that offer Tap & Go in Egypt

How to get the Tap & Go feature on your card.

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about various technologies that simplify electronic payments, reducing the need for cash-related transactions. These technologies are welcome opportunities for many. One service, which has gradually grown in popularity and has become more widely used is contactless technology, also known as Tap & Go.

Tap & Go, currently provided by Visa and Mastercard, allows you to make instant, fast and secure payments by effortlessly tapping your card on a contactless-enabled point of sale device, saving you the hassle of inputting your PIN on POS systems.

Benefits of Tap & Go:

  • Convenience and Ease of Use: Faster transactions and shorter queues during checkout. No need to carry around bulky wallets and handle cash during payments.
  • Increased Reliability and Security During Transactions: The chip technology is embedded with encryption and dynamic data technologies, which protect against fraudulent purchases.
  • Reduces Risk of Infection: It reduces the chance of exposure to infection, which can be obtained from dealing with POS devices.
  • Facilitating Governmental Payments: It can be used to pay government service fees for which cash transactions are less than 500 EGP.
  • ATM Withdrawal Limits: Maximum daily ATM withdrawal limits of up to 30,000 EGP and 100,000 EGP per month, respectively.

You’ll find the contactless symbolone on POS devices that support this service.

Tap & Go

Look for a wave-like icon on the front or the back of your card. That’s the contactless symbol. You’ll find the same one on POS devices that support this service. That’s it, just Tap & Go! If the symbol is not there, do not worry, that just means you’ll have to wait to renew your card, your new card should have it, and you’ll be all set.
