How long does a full charge last?

If you’re contemplating buying an electric car then you must have wondered about the cost and duration of a charging session especially after The Cabinet of Ministers approved a tariff of 169 piasters per kWh for electric car charging. 

Late last year the Cabinet of Ministers passed the electric car charging tariff at 169 piasters using a 22 kW/h alternating (AC) current and 375 piasters for the 50 kW/h direct (DC) current.

Cost of charging new electric cars in 2022:

 

Renault Zoe:

 

Renault Zoe’s 52 kW/h battery costs 87.8 EGP to fully charge it when using a slow charge and 195 EGP when using a fast charge. The electric range is 380 km on a single full charge.

The Twizy’s 6.1 kW/h battery costs 10.3 EGP on a slow charge and the range of a single full charge is up to 90 km.

 

Hyundai Ioniq:

 

Hyundai’s 38.3 kW/h battery costs 64.7 EGP when using the slow charge and 143.5 EGP when using the fast charge while the range of a full charge is 275 km.

 

Wuling Hongguang Mini EV:

 

The Mini EV’s 13.8 kW/h battery costs 23.5 EGP using a slow charge and its range is 170 km.

 

Porsche Taycan:

 

Porsche’s Taycan has an 83.7 kW/h battery that costs 141.5 EGP using a slow charge and 315 EGP using a fast charge. Its range is 385 km.

 

BMW i3:

 

The i3’s 37.9 kW/h battery costs 64 EGP using a slow charge and 142 EGP using a fast charge and its range is 320 km.
