“Women in Leadership” is the theme for the 2021 UN International Women’s Day and this is confirming the general trend of Women empowering themselves and assuming more and more leadership positions both locally and globally.
Today on the 8th of March 2021, International Women’s Day, we will introduce you to three ladies that were able to reach the pinnacle of success in the field of Economics in Egypt.
Dr. El Said started her journey when she graduated in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in Economics & Political science after which she continued her education journey earning both a magistrate and a Doctorate in Economics.
She also held numerous positions including but not limited to Professor of Economics at Cairo University, Board Member at the Central Bank of Egypt, and now as the Minister of Planning.
Her achievements are not limited to her titles, as she spearheaded a few national projects that are having a tremendous impact on the Egyptian Economy:

Mrs. El Ghazaly is currently the Managing Director & Head of Investment Banking at Pharos one of the most prestigious investment banks in Egypt. Additionally, she is a Board Member in the Middle East Glass Manufacturing Company, the largest container glass manufacturer in Egypt and the MENA region and the second-largest in Africa with three production plants.
Mrs. Soltan has a long and distinguished career spanning over 35 years. She both held high positions in global financial institutions such as Deutsche Bank and HongKong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and regional banks such as Ahli United Bank (AUB). She is currently the Chairperson of the Export Development Bank of Egypt.
