6 Thoughtful Ideas for Mother’s Day

Clean the apartment!

Mother’s Day is getting closer and as it approaches we keep thinking of the ultimate Mother’s day gift, but what if you don’t have the budget this year?

Let’s be honest mothers generally speaking don’t really care about the gift itself, many mothers would much rather have our complete and total attention, love, and care over any material gift. Tell your mother how much you appreciate her and everything she’s ever done for you over the years.

Why don’t we think outside the box of materialism and find the perfect gift to show our appreciation?

1- Find your own lost T-shirt:

We’ve all been there; we try to find a shirt/skirt/jeans/etc... and we just can’t find it (or most of the time we just don’t want to look too hard) so we end up asking our moms who inevitably answer that it is exactly where it should be: the closet. After going back and forth for a while the conversation ends with our mothers threatening us with dire consequences if they get up from their comfy spot (but let’s be real they were probably doing household chores) only to find the shirt/skirt/jeans in the closet. Of course they do find it exactly where they said it would be (please note that in these situations the item is probably right there in front of you or right at the top to the point your mom will just reach in and grab it).

So in conclusion a nice gift would be to find your own shirt and don’t your mom to find it for you.

2- What’s for lunch?

Give your mom a day off from the kitchen and cook dinner yourself. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just some pasta or rice with a salad. You can even make some sandwiches with different ingredients. If all else fails and you have some money to spare you can have something delivered. Just make sure to cook/order something that she likes.

3- Do the dishes/laundry

Doing the dishes by hand take a long time especially if pots & pans need to be cleaned so why not do them for your mother? If you have a dishwasher then load/unload the dishes. Same applies to the washing machine. Pay attention to how much detergent you use so that you don’t overflow the machine and when it comes to laundry separate clothes by color. Here’s a tip: read the manuals.

4- Don’t use too much oil

If you do decide to cook don’t use too much cooking oil. Not only is it unhealthy it is also wasteful and expensive.

5- Clean the apartment

You don’t even have to clean the whole apartment (baby steps!) your room would be a perfect start. You can also just go around the apartment and put things where they belong (dirty dishes go in the sink/dishwasher, dirty clothes in the laundry, etc..) while doing the dusting.

6- Don’t throw away ripe fruit

If you do decide to do some cleaning you can clean the fridge but while doing that don’t throw away any ripe fruit you find in there. Not only will your mom yell at you, but the ripe fruit will also make a delicious juice.
