To celebrate World Savings Day Egyptian banks are giving everyone the opportunity to open a free bank account. This opportunity is available from Monday 17th of October 2022 to 31st of October 2022.

The Central Bank of Egypt decided to celebrate both the Global Financial Inclusion Week and the World Savings Day by giving Egyptians the opportunity to open a free bank account.

Egyptian banks are also offering several of their products and services for free till 31st of October 2022.

  • Opportunity to open a free bank account with zero fees and no minimum opening balance.
  • E-wallet
  • Free subscription to Internet and mobile banking.
  • Other services and products with waived fees

When can I open a free bank account?

 

The Central Bank of Egypt has specified six times per year with activities geared towards supporting financial inclusion.

 

The Central Bank allows banks during those periods to promote their products off premises to encourage and attract new clients with activities and offers such as new accounts with zero administrative fees.

What is financial inclusion?

 

It is an initiative launched by the Central Bank of Egypt, with the purpose of:

  • Achieving financial stability in the financial and banking sectors in Egypt.
  • Meeting the financial needs of marginalise sectors.
  • The central bank depends on a number of banks as primary partners in its quest for financial inclusion. This was achieved by encouraging banks to offer banking & financial facilitations and improved products and services to their clients.

Activities to support financial inclusion in Egypt:

 

The central bank of Egypt has specified six different times per year to support financial inclusion; they are:

 

International Women’s Day: from March 8 to March 31.

Arab Day for Financial Inclusion: from the 1st to the 30th of April.

International Youth Day: from the 1st to the 15th of August.

Farmers’ day: from the 1st to the 15th of September.

Global Financial Inclusion Week and World Savings Day: from 15 to the 31st of October.

International Day of Disabled Persons: from the 1st to the 15th of December.
